Good Afternoon Fountain International Magnet School Families, 

This is Charlotte Martinez with our weekly updates!  We want to remind all parents that there is no school for students on Monday, February 20th as this day is a holiday.  Also, please make sure that students come to school in proper uniform attire each day including wearing uniform pants and not jeans, leggings, or boots. Additionally, girls should wear tights with skirts and skorts.  Even though we have had some warmer days, please keep in mind that shorts are not allowed until after we return from Spring Intersession.  

On Tuesday, February 21st, the Random Acts of Kindness Forms are due.  Thank you to all of our students and staff who are making an effort to complete acts of kindness. 

On Wednesday, February 22nd, we will host a school tour for prospective families at 8:30 AM. 

On Thursday, February 23rd, the Dr. Seuss Contest entries are due. We are also extended the International festival basket items due date to this Thursday as well due to having several days off.  If any parents would like to help out in putting the classroom theme baskets together for volunteer hours, we will be doing this task on Thursday evening at 6 PM.  Parents who would like to help out with this task can call the main office at give your name and number.  We are looking for around seven volunteers for this task. 

Finally on Friday, February 24th, our Energy Competition ends, so please turn in your Energy Usage Forms this week. Also, this Friday is our Annual International Festival from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Fountain International.   Every student will receive a passport where they will be able to experience activities from Egypt, Brazil, Australia, and Senegal.  We will also have performances from FIMS’ Choir, East High School’s Tone Troopers, and the Salida Circus. Thank you to all of the families who signed up to bring cakes.  The cakes can be dropped off on Friday at the main office. We appreciate everyone who have signed up to help out for this evening. On Friday, in honor of our International Festival, students may also wear clothing from their cultural background. 

More information regarding the International Festival will be sent out this week!

Good Afternoon Fountain International Magnet School Families, 

This is Charlotte Martinez with our weekly updates! On Monday, we will start our Random Acts of Kindness Week. More information about this event can be found on the FIMS’ Webpage.  Monday is also the due date for Student Letter of Intent Form for the 2017-2018 school year.  A form must be submitted for every student, which secures your student's slot for next year. Also on Monday, February 13th, we will have our International Festival Committee Meeting at 6:00 PM in the Learning Commons area. If you have not signed up to help out with this event, please go to to see all of the available opportunities.  

On Tuesday, February 14th, we will have a free Valentine’s Spirit Day. Students may wear jeans and a Valentines colored shirt or clothing for free. Valentine’s Day parties will take place in the afternoon on this day as well.

On Wednesday, February 15th, we will have a tour for prospective families at 8:30 AM.  Also on this day, our Earth Day Committee will be meeting at 6:00 PM in the Learning Commons Area. 

Finally, on Friday, February 17th, there will be no school for students as this day is a District Professional Development Day. 

Just a few more reminders – students who eat breakfast at school should do so during the breakfast window which lasts from 7:50 AM to 8:10 AM daily. Breakfast items should not be taken into classrooms. Also keep in mind that uniform pants should be worn daily unless we have a jean day. Black jeans are not considered uniform pants. Additionally, tights should be worn with skirts or skorts until after Spring Intersession. 

Lastly, don’t forget to order your student’s yearbook. The yearbooks are $15, and the due date is in April. Order forms went home a month ago.  Also, we have moved back into first place for the Energy Competition, but we still need to get as many Home Energy Action Forms turned in as possible.  If you have not turned in your family’s form, please do so this week. We are one week closer to $18,000.

Good Afternoon Fountain International Magnet School Families,

We want to thank all of our families for a successful movie night last Friday! We had a great turn out of students! Also keep up the great work on saving energy and getting those energy usage forms turned in to school. Last week, our school was number one in the competition!

Here are our weekly events. On Tuesday, February 7th, we will have our Student of the Month Breakfast beginning at 7:50 AM in the FIMS’ Gym.  

On Wednesday, February 8th, we will host a tour for prospective families which will begin at 8:30 AM. Then on Wednesday evening, our District Accountability Committee will meet at the Administration Building from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. 

On Thursday, February 9th, our kindergarten students will have their musical performance at 6:30 PM at Pueblo East High School in the auditorium. 

On Friday, February 10th, it is the hundredth day of school. Valentine’s Day Gram Order Forms as well as Box Tops are due on this day. Also, early registration for Camp Invention begins, and more information on Camp Invention can be founds on the FIMS’ Web Page under “Recent Announcements.”

Finally, Letters of Intent Forms for the 2017-2018 school year were sent home on Friday.  Please complete and return these forms as soon as possible to secure your student's spot.

  • 8:20 a.m. School begins
  • 3:30 p.m. School dismissed, Monday through Thursday
  • 1:50 p.m. School dismissed on Fridays

Breakfast Schedule

  • 7:50 a.m.–8:20 a.m. daily for Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades.

Lunch Schedule

  • 11:15 a.m. to 11:55 a.m. Kindergarten
