Good Evening Fountain International Magnet School Families, 

This is Charlotte Martinez with a few reminders.  Tomorrow, Thursday, August 17th, students will not have school as it is a District Professional Development Day. 

We will see students back at school on Friday, August 18th. Also, please remember to turn in all of your paperwork from our Parent Night Meetings on Friday.  Additionally, we sent home a permission slip form today for students’ participation in viewing the solar eclipse, which will take place on Monday, August 21st during our lunch periods. We need the permission slips for the solar eclipse viewing turned in on Friday.

We will be live streaming the solar eclipse on Monday during the recess time in the gymnasium.  Additionally, students who have turned in their permission slip forms will have an opportunity to view the solar eclipse using glasses that meet the ISO 12312:2 Standards for transmittance (UV, IR, and visible lights), and our vendor appears on the American Astronomical Society’s  official list of Safe and Proven Eclipse Glass Vendors. 
However, we need parent volunteers during the recess periods from 10:45 AM to 12:45 PM to help students quickly view the eclipse one on one.  We have a planned system for viewing, and now we just need the volunteers.  

We are looking for at least 20 volunteers to work during this time period in order to help with the viewing.

Good Afternoon Fountain International Magnet School Families, 

This is Charlotte Martinez with our weekly updates.  We had a wonderful start to our school year and having the students back in our school building just fills the building with joy!  

This week we will have our Required Back to School Parent Meetings. Our Kindergarten Parent Meeting will take place on Monday, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM.  Our First, Second, and Third Grade Parent Meetings will take place on Tuesday, from 5:30 to 6:15 PM. All families should attend this session. Then from 6:15 to 6:30 PM, parents with siblings in those grades can touch base with the additional teacher in order to receive the need to know information. 

Then on Thursday, August 17th, there will be no school for students as it is a District Professional Development Day.

Also, look for Morning Fun Permission Slip Forms to be sent home this week. Morning Fun will start on August 21st. 

We are SO excited for our Annual 5K ROAR for Fitness Race, which will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 9 AM at Minnequa Lake.  Currently we are in need of building our corporate sponsors. This race is our one big fundraiser for our school, and businesses are able to be recognized for as little as $100.  We will have our ROAR for Fitness Race Kick-Off on September 15th, where students will be encouraged to participate in the race and get sponsors as well. 

We have attached general race information for our families and a sponsor form if you know of any businesses who would like to support our school through this healthy event! Our goal is to beat the $20,000 that we raised last year, but we will not be able to meet that goal without the wonderful support from our FIMS’ Families.

Good Evening Fountain International Magnet School,

We want to thank all of the parents who attended the Meet and Greet and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony! Also, we just wanted to remind parents that tomorrow, August 9th, is our first day of school.  School starts at 8:20 AM, and teachers will begin bringing students into the building at 8:15 AM, so make sure that students have arrived by that time. If students are dropped off on the playground prior to the 8:10 AM time, then parents should remain with them until teachers are on duty.

Students who are eating breakfast should arrive no earlier than 7:45 AM, as no one will be on duty before that time. Students eating breakfast can enter through the main doors and go downstairs to the cafeteria. They will be escorted outside to line up at 8:10 AM.  If you have any bus questions, please call the main office.

Good Afternoon Fountain International Families!

This is Charlotte Martinez, Principal of Fountain International, and I would like to welcome everyone to our exciting new school year. I also wanted to send out a few updates for this week. 

Tomorrow, Monday, August 7th, we will have our Meet and Greet Event from 4:00 to 5:30 PM where families can meet teachers, drop off school supplies, and complete required bus transportation forms and Parent Booker Volunteer Registration. 

Parents can complete the bus sign up information ahead of time by going to the Fountain International Webpage and clicking on the link at the bottom of the page. We must have bus sign up information completed on the electronic form by 6 PM on Monday, August 7th.  Parents who do not complete the electronic bus form by that time will need to call the office to communicate bus sign-up information. If we do not have bus information for a student by the first day of school, he or she will not ride a bus. 

Additionally, during the Meet and Greet Event, our PTO will host a PTO Uniform Sale in the cafeteria. We will also have our FIMS’ Spirit Shirts on sale this evening!

Then, immediately following the Meet and Greet at 5:30 PM, we will have the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for our new Sun Shade Structure. We invite families to join us for this event as well where we will have cookies and punch. 

Also we are starting to post information on our webpage for our upcoming 5K ROAR for Fitness Fundraiser Event!  We are looking for corporate sponsors!

Our first day of school will be Wednesday, August 9th, and it will be a formal dress day.

This message is for Fountain International Magnet School Families. We wanted to send out a few reminders for this next week as we are getting ready to start our school year!

On Monday, August 7th, we will host our Meet and Greet Event from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Parents and students will be able to meet their teacher, see their classroom, and drop off school supplies.  During this event, we will have our PTO Recycled Uniform Sale in the cafeteria, which is a wonderful opportunity to purchase a few more uniform items for a great price.   

Immediately following the Meet and Greet at 5:30 PM, we will have a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for our new Sun Shade Structure!  We were funded a grant through the American Academy of Dermatology for this wonderful playground addition.

If you are a parent who wants to get a head start on volunteer hours, you help out with our uniform sale.  Contact information will be posted on the FIMS Webpage under the Volunteer Tab. We are also looking for parent help to put information packets together in the office. Also, if you have gently used uniforms to donate to our sale, please drop them off at the main office.

Finally, mark your calendars for our first day of school which will be August 9th!

Kindergarten – 3rd Grade

  • 8:20 a.m. School begins
  • 3:30 p.m. School dismissed, Monday through Thursday
  • 1:50 p.m. School dismissed on Fridays

Breakfast Schedule

  • 7:50 a.m.–8:15 a.m. daily for Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades.
Lunch Schedule

·       11:05 a.m. to 11:25 a.m. Kindergarten (recess 11:25 – to 11:45 a.m.)

·       11:25 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. Grade 1 (recess 11:05 a.m. – to 11:25 p.m.)
