Good Afternoon Fountain International Magnet School Families,

This is Charlotte Martinez with our weekly updates.  We want to congratulate our Destination Imagination Teams, The Artistic Engineers and the Rising Stars, who competed this Saturday at PCC.  Both teams did awesome, and in fact our Artistic Engineers took second place and will be going to the State Competition. Also we want to congratulate our whole school on the efforts in our energy competition.  We tied for second place and will receive $6,000 toward an energy project at our school. The Colorado Department of Education said that it was one of the best competitions that they have ever seen!

This week’s updates include our Student Led Conferences, which will take place all day on Monday, March 13th.  All families should have signed up for a specific time where their student will lead them through their learning experiences. These conferences are a requirement of Fountain International families.

On Wednesday of this week, March 15th, Spring 2017 Intersession Registration Forms are due. If you have any questions about the courses, please call the main office.  Also on Wednesday, we will have our General PTO Meeting at 6:00 PM. We would love to have as many parents as possible attend this meeting as we go over budget and proposed spending. We also hope to have updates on our calendar for next year.

On Thursday, March 16th, we will have our International Festival Reflection Meeting for committee members at 6:00 PMin the Learning Commons. We hope to see all committee members there.

Finally, on Friday, March 17th, we will have a St. Patrick’s Day Free Spirit Day! Students can wear jeans and a green t-shirt for free. If students do not have a green t-shirt, then they can wear jeans and the uniform polo for free as well.

Finally, please find the attached IB Parent Information Letter, which helps to inform parents about what we do at FIMS that makes our school unique.

All of this information can be found on the FIMS’ Webpage!

Thank you for all of your support and have a wonderful rest of your weekend!

Good Afternoon Fountain International Magnet School Families,

Thank you so much for everyone’s help in making the International Festival awesome!  It seemed like a great evening was had by all!  Also, we want to thank all of our families for completing the Energy Action Forms.  We were completing forms up to the last minute available.  We know that we were in close competition with Bessemer.  We received an email message letting us know that the final scores and results will be available March 9th, so as soon as we hear any information, we will let our families know too.

This week on Wednesday, March 1st, after school choir practice will be cancelled. Again choir practice for this week will be cancelled. Also Wednesday is the closing date to enroll at Fountain International for the 2017-2018 school year. So, if you know of any families who may want to apply or if you have a kindergarten student or sibling who wants to enroll, please make sure that the application is completed by March 1st.

On Thursday, March 2nd, we will have a 2nd Grade Informational Parent Meeting for Gifted Talented as well as Talent Pool students. This meeting will take place from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.

Then on Friday, March 3rd, FIMS’ newspaper submissions are due.  Also we will have our Donuts with Dads or Special Guests. Dads or special guests, who could be a grandpa, uncle, or special friend, are invited to share a donut with students this Friday from 7:30 to 8:15 AM. The theme this year is Pirates and Princesses, so students and special guests are welcome to wear their pirate or princess gear to school.  This day is a free spirit dress day.  Also on this Friday is our March Birthday Celebrations!

Just a few more reminders for this week. Student Led Conferences are just around the corner, so parents will be receiving information from teachers about sign-up times. Also this week, Spring 2017 Intersession Registration Forms will be sent home, and we have some great support sessions and enrichment sessions taking place.

Also, random uniform checks will begin this week. Please assure students come to school each day wearing the correct uniform.  Hoodies and coats should not be worn all day unless they are in the schools’ colors, so please make sure that student have long sleeve uniform shirts or long sleeve undershirts in the uniform colors to help them stay warm in the classrooms on cold days.

Finally, our Staff Shout Out Board is located at the entrance of Fountain.  Everyone is welcome to send teachers and staff words of encouragement. Sticky notes and pens are located near the Shout Out Board.  When the Board is filled up, the notes are then delivered to teachers and staff, and the process is started again.  Thank you to Ms. Hendricks who put this idea into place.

Thank you for being awesome parents and guardians!  We could not be successful without your support!

Have a great weekend!
